In my opinion each educator must respect education and the responsibilities it has to each student. From my personal experiences over the years I have developed a strong sense of where I am now and how far I can develop, which is reflected in my education philosophy. I believe that every individual can lead a creative life with a positive attitude, good choices and having an appreciation towards art. A successful art program does not work alone; it should incorporate other content area in order to have students develop a better understanding of how other content areas can connect with one another. Having the ability to make these connections from one class to another also leads to making connections not only inside the classrooms but outside the school environment in their local surroundings, in their everyday lives. Making your content area relevant to students, making it personal gets students engaged and actively learning.
I expect my students to begin like seedlings and progressively, endlessly grow like a flower maneuvers its way to face the sun. I want my students to grow through their art experiences and let it lead them wherever they want to go in life. I perceive art education as a never ending learning experience. This can be accomplished through willing participation, student growth and community involvement. By recognizing individual interests and abilities I believe that I can create a well balanced and successful art program that will thrive as well as my students. It is my goal as a future educator to encourage this philosophy in my students as well as my professional colleagues. Student’s creativity should always be encouraged in all aspects of education, unfortunately numerous of other content areas do not allow personal exploration and experimentation the way art education does. Creative thinking is a beneficial tool for all people in the school environment, students, teachers, parents, etc. because it can be used in many situations in life. My ultimate goal for myself as an educator for my students is to always be open to new ideas and to continue in a lifelong quest for comprehension and to always be enthusiastic to learning and creating.
